Park in Solid Shape

The so-far gentle spring weather has made Greensfelder's trails better than they've ever been. All of the multi-use trail users have been getting along quite nicely and we should all continue to be courteous and respectful of hikers and equestrians that we may meet along the way. I've only heard good comments about how Greensfelder's trail network has progressed and I am bolstered to hear the same holds true for our trail encounters with other nature-loving people.

See you on the trails.

Millions of Riders This Past Sunday

Well, it felt like it anyway.

Over 80 riders in various groups rode Greensfelder this past Sunday. I think it was the perfect storm where everyone had the same idea. The park trails are in terrific shape right now and the lastest trail reroute is bedding in nicely.

Deer Run Reroute Complete

The lower half of the Deer Run fall-line descent to Eagle Valley has been successfully rerouted. The new leg is .02 miles in length and is no steeper than 8% at any point. The new trail segment should remain sustainable for years to come.

Our so-far mild winter has been kind to the park and you should get out to ride it when the weather is amicable. See you on the trails.

Workday February 25th.

Yes, GORC's first 2012 workday at Greensfelder will be February 25th. We'll be rerouting the lower portion of the Deer Run descent that is unsustainable and remains muddy for a long time after it rains.

Read more over on the GORC message board.

Trails in Good Shape Today

This mild winter (err, to date!) has been great for the trails at Greensfelder. All the deadfall has been cleared from the popular riding routes and GORC has a new design flagged and approved for the lower leg of the Deer Run descent.

Our first Greensfelder workday is February 25th. Come on out!

October First Sunday Ride Had Large Turnout

It's great to see so many new faces out at Greensfelder. GORC's ongoing First Sunday ride at Greensfelder spearheaded by Steve Smith continues to gain momentum. At least 15-20 riders showed at high noon to ride almost 12 miles of singletrack.

It's a no-drop ride format and we stop 3-4 times during the ride to allow everyone to regroup. First Sunday is a great way to meet new bike friends, meet some people from GORC and generally have a grand ol' time.

You don't even have to be a member of GORC to join us on the ride, but we hope you'll reconsider after having a blast on the ride :-).

First GF Workday Fall 2011 in Books

Dozens of volunteers worked the dirt of Northern Green Rock inside Greensfelder this past Saturday. The trail is being rerouted off private property and back onto Greensfelder property. The new reroute will be sustainable in design and offer both technical hillside features and flowy dirt singletrack.

I don't have any spy photos available yet so you won't be able to see or handiwork unless you trek into the deep recesses of the park. At least two more workdays will be required to potentially open this piece up. With your help, we could speed the process up.

Hope to see you at the next workday November 12th. In the meantime head to a workday at one of your other favorite spots to ride. Keep tabs on the homepage.

Trees over Trail Removed

All significant logs across the trails (except one on Dogwood) have been removed. Now you don't have to hop over massive trees, well, except one.
